The prison ministry is being carried out all over Southern conference. Out of 15 prisons the SDA church does its work in 11. There are about 165 interests (28 years old average) attending bible studies in their search for salvation in Christ. Thus many young adults have a chance to forsake their criminal ways and return to normal social life. In the Southern Conference we have 15 former inmates who are carrying different ministry in the church. Whenever the inmates are free again it is very difficult for them to adapt to social life. This is why we see a great need in establishing such Rehab centers where former inmates could get social and spiritual support, help with paperwork and job training, in other words- help in starting a new life. Another problem is high level of drug and alcohol addiction that leads to broken families and increasing number of orphans. To meet this need the SDA church started a Rehab center in Malakhovo, NIkolaev area. God put it on heart of one Christian to give a house to the church. Thomas Devitt, USA, donated 10.000$ toward this project. With this money we could remodel the house and place. Since April 2009 we built here a fowl shed, wide street, and bathroom and bought some sheep and goats to breed. But still a lot needs to be done, like putting the heating, including the furnace, finishing the construction of veggies storage and buying a neighboring house for the helping workers, and some specialized ground toiling machinery. To accomplish all this we need 50.000$. Today the Rehab center in Malakhovo can receive eight people. When our construction is over 24 people will be able to get timely help here.

There are over 100000 orphans in Ukraine. Only 10 % of them have lost their parents. 80 % of children suffered violence and humiliation. Society cannot manage this problem. Many orphans live on the streets. There is a widespread drug use among them. Many of them live in basements or heating main. Many of them have to go criminal way in order to survive. 10% of them commit suicide before age of 18. Only 5% have a chance to be adopted after the age of 5. 60% of girls will become prostitutes, 50% of them will abandon their children. Where is the solution? For this purpose the Southern Conference administration decided to open orphanage health center and school in Nikolaev. The city of Nikolaev is situated in the South part of Ukraine. The population of Nikolaev is above 500 000 people. The city is 340 miles from Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. Nikolaev is a significant shipbuilding port. This is going to be not just a place where children can eat, have their clothes changed, and stay overnight. At this center children can get real long term help in education and rearing. Orphans will attend the kindergarten, go to school and creativity circles, receive medical and psychological help. This place will become their home. We plan to take care of adults as well. We will do family and premarital consultations, broadcast programs on family counseling. In 2002 we bought a piece of land for construction which we began in 2007. In 2008 we had the foundation dug and the basement floor with the floor heating put. At the end of the year the church began to hold worship services in the basement. But the inside work is still not finished there.

Krasny Mak is a unique place in Crimea, nestled in King’s valley. River Belbek and weirdly weathered rocks make it even more attractive for recreation. This area is known for its cave cities and monasteries, fortress and medieval castle, tourist routes and fishing lakes. It is close to the Black Sea. Experts predict fast development of tourism here. By God’s providence the SDA church here has been given a piece of land with two buildings on it by our sister Ludmila Kuzina. Having bought these buildings from the state after the fall of the USSR, Ludmila has been praying for eight years for wisdom how to put these buildings to the best use for God and community. The South Conference administration agreed to establish here a Christian social complex. It is very important to restore good health for children and adults alike. To help achieve this goal the church holds camp meetings for youth, teens and children in Crimea every summer. Unfortunately we cannot provide necessary conveniences for camps like these. People stay in tents with all the conveniences being outside, far away from the place they are staying. If it rains, people easily catch cold. Therefore we plan to establish here all season recreation center for families, youth and children not just from the south of Ukraine but also from Russia, Belarus, Moldova. Besides we can send here the children from Nikolaev social center “ A Way Home”. We plan to use the facilities for camp meetings, revival weeks, evangelistic series, and social work for the community. We may also collaborate with health food producers. One two story building( 1500 square meters, about 10.500 square feet) used to serve as offices for the local collective farm, another was two story cafeteria ( 1.600 square meters) with bakery and other production lines. The land and buildings need thorough reconstruction. The longer they are dilapidated the faster they deteriorate. We plan to reconstruct the place in spring ,2011. Sergei Bychkov, an experienced resort and construction businessman is going to be in charge of it. We need 1.250.000$ to do the project. We need your prayer and financial support. Thank you ahead of time. for your support.

Modern society and especially young people faces a rapid decline in spiritual values. SDA church opened a museum of Adventism in Crimea in 2006. Its goal is to preserve and pass onto our posterity the rich spiritual heritage. The museum collection helps to track our Church history from the date of her foundation in the Russian Empire in 1886, until now. The collection has unique archive documents, photos, manuscripts, periodicals which describe the life of the church before the revolution, during the KGB persecutions under communism, and the church rapid growth after the fall of the USSR. The tours inspire the visitors to carefully keep the memory of strong heroes of faith which remained true to the biblical principals under the terrible persecution and preserved human dignity even in appalling conditions of camps and prisons. For majority, the exposition helps to radically change their understanding of the Adventist church. Visitors develop respect for the courage and firmness of the Adventists who did not betray Christian ideals during harsh trials. Crimea is a great tourist attraction. About 5 mln tourists visit it during the high season. There are excursion tours which take you to all religious sites in Simferopol. Our museum could be included in their number. Here tourists could not only get acquainted with the church history but could also buy spiritual literature and attend the health expo. Unfortunately all this is not possible now because the museum occupies a room big enough only to accommodate seven people. We also have more pieces than we can exhibit in that small room. The SDA church in Simferopol gave the museum a good size room but it needs reconstruction. Windows have to be replaced, walls insulated, heating and electricity installed and special furniture for the museum pieces purchased, as well as a liquid crystal sensor screen for video tours. The churches of the city support the museum by their offerings but this is not enough. To complete the reconstruction we need 43.000$. We need your prayer and financial support. We thank you in advance and wish you richest God’s blessings.

The city of Sevastopol is located in Crimea. During its 227year history it often justified its name, meaning “great, worthy of worship”. More than 2500 years ago ancient Greeks had here their settlement Khersones, where according to the tradition, apostle Andrew planted a Christian church in 1 st century AD. First Adventists came to Sevastopol in 1907. These missionaries got together after work at the city square, the favorite with the locals, and began to sing psalms. Some people would stop by, listen to lyrics of the hymns, that brought the truth, and joined the Christians. This is how the church got started. Today Sevastopol has four churches, 600 members and 400.000 population, but not a single operating sanctuary. Thus the Central church has problems: in their rented hall they are not allowed to hold religious events with new guests, rental time is limited to only two hours which doesn’t allow for a good service. The roof leaks and there’s no heating. Teens and children have no SS room. One third of the work is over by now but due to lack of funds we have to stop the building. We need another 500.000$ to finish, the kindof money that the members do not have yet. This money could help for the city churches dream to come true. They can have their own church so that the salvation message can successfully reach the people of Sevastopol. We need your prayer and financial support. We wish you God’s richest blessings.

Media and television in particular seem to have a great influence on our minds and choices we make. SDA church offers our society spiritual TV programs that deal with basic issues the world faces today and what is most important that show humanity the way out of difficult situations and give hope. To meet those demands a Christian satellite TV channel having a highly symbolic name HOPE was started in Ukraine in 2008. With the central studio in Kiev, three regional media centers were also launched: one in the western Ukraine, in lviv, another one in central Ukraine, in Vinnitsa, and the 3rd one in the south, in Nikolaev. The Southern regional media center began operating in October, 2009. There are eleven people on our team: directors, camera and sound men, composers, script-writers and moderators. To make a high quality product we need a separate, professionally equipped production facilities. Over 100,000$ have already been invested in this media center thanks to help of the Ukrainian Union, Southern conference and the donors. Now by God’s grace its work has begun. The construction plan has been completed by 40 % but to be able to turn it over for operation we need at least 150.000$ The media center team video worship services in Nikolaev churches, produce educational children program, a series on SDA church history, feature faith testimonies and socio-religious news. We plan to produce programs for youth and teens and record music groups. To achieve our goals we need your prayer and financial support. May the Lord bless our mutual work to His glory!

Odessa is the largest port on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine and is an administrative, industrial, cultural, scientific and resort center, the knot of rail and car roads. It is the fourth largest city in Ukraine with over one million people. The SDA church celebrated its 100 anniversary in 2008 in Odessa. It has eight congregations of total 1029 members. Only three churches have their own buildings, five rent. In spring 2010 the church of Odessa bought a piece of land with a little house on it for 136.000$. Here we plan to build a sanctuary for 500-600 seats and two apartments for pastors. We need $800.000 to finish this building. Thank you for your help.
