Modern society and especially young people faces a rapid decline in spiritual values. SDA church opened a museum of Adventism in Crimea in 2006. Its goal is to preserve and pass onto our posterity the rich spiritual heritage. The museum collection helps to track our Church history from the date of her foundation in the Russian Empire in 1886, until now. The collection has unique archive documents, photos, manuscripts, periodicals which describe the life of the church before the revolution, during the KGB persecutions under communism, and the church rapid growth after the fall of the USSR.
The tours inspire the visitors to carefully keep the memory of strong heroes of faith which remained true to the biblical principals under the terrible persecution and preserved human dignity even in appalling conditions of camps and prisons. For majority, the exposition helps to radically change their understanding of the Adventist church. Visitors develop respect for the courage and firmness of the Adventists who did not betray Christian ideals during harsh trials.
Crimea is a great tourist attraction. About 5 mln tourists visit it during the high season. There are excursion tours which take you to all religious sites in Simferopol. Our museum could be included in their number. Here tourists could not only get acquainted with the church history but could also buy spiritual literature and attend the health expo.
Unfortunately all this is not possible now because the museum occupies a room big enough only to accommodate seven people. We also have more pieces than we can exhibit in that small room. The SDA church in Simferopol gave the museum a good size room but it needs reconstruction. Windows have to be replaced, walls insulated, heating and electricity installed and special furniture for the museum pieces purchased, as well as a liquid crystal sensor screen for video tours. The churches of the city support the museum by their offerings but this is not enough. To complete the reconstruction we need 43.000$.
We need your prayer and financial support. We thank you in advance and wish you richest God’s blessings.
